Bucknell drivers face C6208 closure in July

By the hiyastar.co.uk news desk

Drivers near Bucknell should plan for a full road closure on the C6208 from Monday 13 July to Friday 31 July 2026 while repairs are carried out to a collapsed retaining wall.

The closure will run 24 hours a day between the A488 New Invention and Lower Lye Junction. Shropshire Council says vehicular traffic will need to use a signed diversion route for the duration of the works.

Diversion and access during the works

Traffic will be diverted via a signed route while the C6208 is closed to vehicles. Shropshire Council has not listed the full diversion in the notice, but says the route will be signed locally.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will not be available through the works area. Access to properties will be maintained up to the closure points, meaning residents and visitors may still reach premises on either side where it is safe to do so.

Retaining wall repairs planned by the council

The scheme includes removing the collapsed retaining wall, building a new concrete footing, rebuilding the wall, installing parapet fencing, and reinstating the highway verge and carriageway.

The work will be carried out by Shropshire Council’s term maintenance contractor, Kier. WSP will supervise the scheme on behalf of Shropshire Council.
