Croydon’s Executive Mayor Jason Perry has congratulated Crystal Palace Football Club after the club won the 2026 UEFA Conference League Final, calling the result a landmark moment for the team and its South London supporters.
In a message addressed to the club chairman and published by Croydon Council, Perry said the council would be honoured to work with Crystal Palace on a possible victory parade and civic celebration in Croydon.
Mayor’s message to Crystal Palace
Perry said the win belonged to the players, manager, coaching staff, club employees and supporters who had followed Palace through “every high and low”.
The mayor, who described himself as a Palace supporter and season ticket holder, said the result came a year after the club’s FA Cup victory at Wembley and marked Crystal Palace’s first European final win.
He said the achievement had meaning beyond the pitch because of the club’s place in the daily life of South London, including families, schools, businesses and community groups.

Possible Croydon celebration
Croydon Council has not announced a confirmed parade date, route or public event plan. Perry’s statement signals that the authority is willing to work with the club if a civic celebration is taken forward.
The mayor said a parade in Croydon would give supporters of all ages a chance to see the European trophy brought home and to celebrate the club in the borough where Selhurst Park is based.
For local residents, the next practical detail will be whether Crystal Palace Football Club and Croydon Council agree arrangements for crowd management, transport, policing and public access.
Selhurst Park and South London pride
Selhurst Park remains one of the strongest local anchors in the mayor’s statement. Perry said Croydon was proud to be the club’s home and described Crystal Palace Football Club as part of the wider story of South London.
“CPFC are the pride of South London,” Perry said in the message. “You have made history, and you have made Croydon and South London proud.”
