Two drop-in events in Middlewich and Macclesfield

The first event takes place on Tuesday 9 June at Salinae Day Centre, Middlewich, CW10 9DG. The second is on Thursday 11 June at Macclesfield Town Hall, in the Silk Room, Macclesfield, SK10 1EA.

Both sessions run from 10.30am to 2.30pm and are being organised by Cheshire East Carers Hub and adult social care as part of Carers Week 2026, which runs from 8 to 14 June.

The borough has more than 34,000 unpaid carers, around one in every 11 residents aged five and over, according to Cheshire East Council. Those carers provide support to people living with long-term illness, disability, mental health needs or age-related conditions.

For anyone comparing local support options, similar free events are also being held elsewhere during Carers Week, including a carers support event in Milton Keynes.

Advice available on health, money and future planning

The Cheshire East events are designed to bring carers into the same room as organisations that can offer practical help. Support will cover health and wellbeing, benefits and financial advice, dementia support and young carers services.

Community groups and respite activities will also be represented, alongside help linked to end-of-life and future planning. Refreshments will be available at the venues.

The format matters for carers who often have limited time and complicated daily routines. A drop-in session gives residents a way to speak to services without needing to commit to a formal appointment in advance.

Feedback gathered from local carers has pointed to the value of connection and practical support. Comments shared by the council included: “Talking to other carers made all the difference,” and “Support that fits around carers’ lives matters.”

Residents who do not call themselves carers are included

Councillor Jill Rhodes, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for adult social care, said unpaid carers are central to communities across the borough.

“Unpaid carers are at the heart of our communities in Cheshire East, and their dedication supports not only loved ones, but our wider health and care system,” she said.

She added that Carers Week is a chance to raise awareness and help create communities where carers feel “valued, supported and understood.”

Residents who care for someone are being encouraged to attend even if they have never used the word carer to describe their role. That can include people helping with meals, medication, appointments, personal care, emotional support or day-to-day tasks for someone close to them.

How to get more information before attending

The events are free, run from 10.30am to 2.30pm, and do not require booking.

The confirmed venues are Salinae Day Centre, Middlewich, CW10 9DG, on Tuesday 9 June, and Macclesfield Town Hall, Silk Room, Macclesfield, SK10 1EA, on Thursday 11 June.
