Free Great Get Together events across Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes residents are being invited to a free citywide series of community get-togethers, starting on Saturday 6 June at Netherfield Meeting Place.

The Great Get Together will run at ten locations across Milton Keynes between June and November. Each event is free to attend, open to everyone, and designed for residents who want to meet neighbours, speak to council teams and partners, get housing advice, or find out how to take part in local neighbourhood improvements.

First event starts at Netherfield Meeting Place

The opening event takes place on Saturday 6 June, from 11am to 2pm, at Netherfield Meeting Place, Farmborough, Netherfield, MK6 4HS.

It is the first in a programme organised by the My Neighbourhoods Group, made up of council tenants and Milton Keynes City Council. The council said the events are intended to bring communities closer together and give people a clearer route into local services and neighbourhood decision-making.

Residents attending can expect refreshments and activities, along with opportunities to speak directly with council teams and partner organisations about local issues. Housing advice is specifically listed as one of the areas available at the events.

For readers looking for other local support dates, hiyastar.co.uk has also covered free Milton Keynes advice sessions taking place this summer.

Refreshments, activities and housing advice

The format is deliberately local: residents can drop into a venue in or near their part of Milton Keynes, meet neighbours, and raise issues with the people involved in council services and community work.

The source notice lists refreshments, activities, conversations with council teams and partners, and housing advice among the main features. It also says residents will be able to find out how to get involved in improving their neighbourhood.

Cllr Ed Hume, Cabinet Member for Housing, joined the My Neighbourhoods Group earlier in the week as preparations were being made for the first event.

“The Great Get Together is all about strengthening the connection between residents and the council,” he said. “We know that strong communities are built when people feel heard, supported and involved in local decisions.”

Free entry and open to everyone

No ticket price is listed because each Great Get Together event is free. The council notice says the events are open to everyone.

The programme covers neighbourhoods and centres including Netherfield, Wolverton, Bletchley, Conniburrow, Woburn Sands, Bradville, Fishermead, Olney and Central Milton Keynes. The final listed event is on Friday 27 November, from 3pm to 6pm, at Centrecom Community Centre, 602 North Row, CMK, MK9 3BJ.
