Residents in Wolverhampton will be able to raise neighbourhood issues face to face at the next Love Your Community sessions, a series of free drop-in meetings held across the city in June.
The first confirmed session is at Bilston Town Hall on Tuesday 9 June, from 6.30pm to 8pm. Further meetings will follow in East Park, Spring Vale, Wednesfield South and Ettingshall North between 10 June and 23 June.
Entry is free, all are welcome, and the sessions are aimed at local residents who want to speak with police, council representatives and community services about what is happening in their area.
June drop-ins across Wolverhampton wards
The Love Your Community sessions are held in Wolverhampton wards on a regular basis, giving residents a local setting to talk about concerns, share information and hear about activities taking place nearby.
The City of Wolverhampton Council said the next confirmed run begins with a special event at Bilston Town Hall, where Leader of the Council Councillor Stephen Simkins will be on the panel.
The sessions bring together representatives from Wolverhampton Police, the City of Wolverhampton Council, Wolverhampton’s Anti-Social Behaviour team and other organisations. The format is designed as a drop-in, so residents can come along to discuss priorities for their own streets, estates and local spaces rather than attend a formal town-hall meeting.
| Date and time | Ward and venue |
|---|---|
| Tuesday 9 June, 6.30pm to 8pm | Bilston Town Hall |
| Wednesday 10 June, 6pm | East Park, Parish Church of Saint Matthew |
| Friday 12 June, 11am | Spring Vale, Spring Vale Library |
| Thursday 18 June, 4pm | Wednesfield South, Bentley Bridge Retail Park |
| Tuesday 23 June, 5.30pm | Ettingshall North, Ettingshall Memorial |
A place to raise street-level priorities
The sessions are intended for residents who want to talk through local issues directly with the organisations involved in community safety, council services and neighbourhood work.
That could include concerns about anti-social behaviour, ideas for improving local spaces, or questions about activities already taking place in a particular ward. The source announcement does not list a fixed agenda for each meeting, which leaves the focus on what residents bring to the room.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said the meetings give residents a forum to meet organisations and discuss neighbourhood priorities, as well as how people can work together to deliver on them.
She encouraged people to attend to find out what is happening in their area, say what matters in their neighbourhood, help improve local spaces, connect with neighbours and businesses, and speak with police, councillors and community services.
Free entry and details for residents
The confirmed Love Your Community sessions are free to attend and open to everyone. Details are available through Eventbrite or by emailing safer@wolverhampton.gov.uk.
The council said dates for further Love Your Community meetings covering other wards in Wolverhampton will be announced in due course.
