Croydon Cabinet named as Mayor sets first priorities

By Hiyastar local news desk

Croydon Executive Mayor Jason Perry has named his Cabinet for a new term and set out a first 100-day programme focused on street cleanliness, public safety, parks, enforcement and council services.

The appointments were presented at Annual Council on Wednesday, 27 May, where Perry outlined plans for what the council described as his second historic term. The announcement follows Perry’s second-term election win and comes as the borough continues to manage service standards, public realm complaints and local regeneration plans.

Cabinet roles confirmed at Annual Council

Councillor Lynne Hale has been appointed Statutory Deputy Executive Mayor and Cabinet Member for Homes. Councillor Jason Cummings becomes Deputy Executive Mayor and Cabinet Member for Finance.

Other Cabinet roles include Yvette Hopley for Health and Adult Social Care, Ola Kolade for Communities, Safety and Justice, Robert Ward for Parks and Culture, Andy Stranack for Children and Young People, Alasdair Stewart for Streets and Enforcement, and Jeet Bains for Planning and Regulatory Services.

Perry will directly lead work on regeneration and inward investment. Croydon Council said £1.2bn of investment has been secured over the past four years.

Streets, enforcement and safer neighbourhoods

The Mayor said the administration would continue a zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, antisocial behaviour and environmental crime.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, the council issued 321 Fixed Penalty Notices for fly-tipping. It also deployed 15 mobile CCTV cameras at fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour hotspots, while 90% of fly-tips are now being cleared within 24 hours, according to the council.

The first 100 days will also include more visible uniformed patrols and Parkguard teams in housing estates and town centres. A new zero-tolerance website and rogues’ gallery is planned, allowing residents to report offenders and identify those damaging the borough.

Service standards and borough basics

Perry said pressure had been stepped up on Veolia and FM Conway over waste collection, street cleaning, highways maintenance and the wider public realm.

The council also plans a Motorists’ Forum, dedicated pothole patrols, extended recycling services, more mobile recycling centres and community-led work including Croydon in Bloom. The blitz clean programme is also returning, with residents helping identify neighbourhoods for targeted action.

Croydon Council said it will continue supporting festivals, events and the borough’s film and television production work through CRO-llywood.
