Town Teams usually meet monthly and work with support from Ealing Council. Their role is to agree local priorities, turn ideas into action, and help tackle issues that residents see in their own streets, centres and shared spaces.

Who can put themselves forward

The council says the role is open to people who care about their local area, including those already active in community work and those getting involved for the first time.

Each team is intended to include a mix of residents, local organisations, faith groups, businesses and councillors. That mix is meant to bring different local experiences into decisions about high streets, green spaces, events, cleanliness, safety and community projects.

Applicants do not need to be public officials or campaigners. The main requirement is a willingness to work with others on practical local priorities.

What Town Teams do in Ealing

Town Teams are part of Your Voice, Your Town, a community-led initiative supported by Ealing Council. Members meet to discuss what their area needs, agree priorities and help move local ideas from discussion into delivery.

That can include planning activities or events, identifying problems such as safety or cleanliness, and working with the council and partner organisations where funding or operational support is needed.

Southall Town Team member Mathan Kumar said he had lived in the area for more than 25 years and wanted to help make it cleaner and better for the wider community.

Councillor Lauren Wall, cabinet member for thriving communities, said the teams give more influence to people who know their areas best and encourage stronger local connections.
